Refunds & Returns Policy (Print-On-Demand)

Overview

Backyard Tees products are printed on demand. This means each item is made to order and we do not offer refunds or exchanges for “change of mind” reasons (including choosing the wrong size, colour preference, or simply not liking the item once it arrives).

Nothing in this policy limits or excludes your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 (New Zealand).

When you are entitled to a remedy (Consumer Guarantees Act)

Under the Consumer Guarantees Act, you may be entitled to a remedy if the item you receive is:

  • faulty or defective

  • damaged in transit

  • not as described

  • the wrong item (different to what you ordered)

If there is a problem covered by the CGA, we will provide the appropriate remedy, which may include (where applicable) a replacement, repair, or refund.

No change-of-mind returns or exchanges

Because items are printed on demand, we do not accept returns or exchanges for:

  • change of mind

  • ordering the wrong size

  • preference-based reasons (e.g., “don’t like it”, “looks different to what I expected” where the item is not faulty)

  • accidental orders or ordering the wrong design/colour

Please choose carefully and refer to size guides before purchasing.

Damages, defects, or incorrect items (What to do)

Please inspect your order as soon as it arrives. If your item is defective, damaged, or incorrect, contact us within 7 days of delivery so we can assess and resolve the issue quickly.

When you contact us, please include:

  • your order number

  • a brief description of the issue

  • clear photos showing the problem (and packaging if it arrived damaged)

Refunds (if approved)

If a refund is approved (for example, where required under the CGA), refunds will be processed back to your original payment method. Please allow up to 10 business days for the refund to appear, depending on your bank or payment provider.

Sale items and gift cards

  • Gift cards are non-refundable (unless required by law).

  • Sale items are treated the same as all other items: remedies apply where required under the CGA, but no change-of-mind refunds or exchanges.
